Do your home work first. “I did not register it because I do not lose birds”, or “It’s the first time I have lost a bird”, ..... say no more. “You can’t lose Harris Hawks”, which is why in the IBR’s history we have found and re-homed over 500 of them. People reporting a lost bird but have no idea what is written on the ring, I hope they have their home address written somewhere so they can get home.
It is the responsibility of us ALL to ensure that we can demonstrate that we have taken every means at our disposal to ensure the safe return of our birds thus helping to promote professionalism within our chosen hobby / sport.
Breeders do it by fitting our rings, keepers should do it by registering their birds with us, it costs just over 1p per day!
