Report A Bird

Just Some of the Birds we have Helped to Reunite

The Form below is to enable you to supply information to the IBR about a lost or stolen bird. The more information you can provide the better the chance we have of tracing the keeper. Once a lost bird has been reported it remains on the system until we are told otherwise. If your bird is found you will be the first person we contact.

A £6.50 FEE APPLIES IF YOUR BIRD IS NOT REGISTERED WITH THE IBR
Keith & Barbara explain "Why we are charging £6.50 to help locate a lost bird".
Dear Friends,

As most of you know we are a very small concern, that is, a husband and wife run business, covering the whole of the UK and into Europe, for which our members pay for a service to register their birds with us for a fee of £6.50 per bird per year to assist in re-uniting lost birds with their rightful owners.

We are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and spend an inordinate amount of time monitoring reports of lost, found and seen birds. We also spend hours on the phone, finding suitable falconers to help catch seen birds, coordinating rescues and contacting breeders to trace owners of unregistered birds.

Since we took over in 2012, figures show that a large percent of our time is taken up with dealing with un-registered birds being reported missing to the IBR, which we feel is to the detriment of those members paying for the service and is an abuse of the goodwill of the IBR.

To report an unregistered bird, you will now be asked to pay the £6.50 registration fee.

This fee will entitle you to the following:

  • The bird will be placed on our mapping system
  • Details will be placed on the lost section of our website
  • An appeal will be posted on our Facebook page together with a photograph and telemetry frequency if you so wish.
  • Your bird will also appear on the IBR App ( here ).
  • If you are not already on our database, we will create a unique, searchable record for you and your bird.
  • You will be contacted with any potential sightings of your bird.
  • You will receive 12 months registration as and when your bird is recovered.
  • You will also receive an IBR split ring, if required.

The IBR will do everything it can to locate a lost bird and reunite it with the owner.

What have you got to lose – except your bird?!
